I might get some flack for this but I feel compelled to say that the regular season All American awards for the AA in the regular season is the true award as opposed to what Faith Torrez got this year. She did not compete the AA all year long and then in just 1 performance she wins this. More prestige needs to be given to the top AA for the regular season than this award. Jordan Chiles, Kaitlin Chio, Avery Neff and even her own teammate Addison Fatta deserve it much more than she does. One meet does not equal a great year long performance.

Wait until you hear about the Longines Prize for Elegance
The deadening effect of seeing it go to Khorkina and then to Zamo, Patterson, Monette Russo, Cheng Fei, and then Shawn Johnson is still something broken in my soul that I feel right away when I have screamed myself awake every morning since

This isn't the Olympics. This is collegiate gymnastics which has a 3 month long season. I 100% agree that Torrez deserves her award. My point is that regular season All American honors do not have the same prestige that this award does and that it should be the opposite. Someone on another thread said receiving a regular season All American award amount to "bragging rights". This logically should not be. Kailin Chio, Jordan Chiles, Avery Neff and Addison Fatta (and the list could go on) accomplished much more all season long while Faith Torrez was training in the gym. That's just a fact.

I mean, this is like saying the prestige needs to be taken away from the Olympics or Worlds because they are just one meet. Part of sports is competing your best when it matters.
No that's not what this is saying. Torrez deserves her one meet award and I'm happy for her that she won. However what this is saying is that to compete at a high level for for 14+ competitions in a 3 month period should be recognized as a greater accomplishment than literally 1 meet all year long. Go look up Chio, Chiles, Neff and Fatta's stats for this year, compare them the Torrez' stats, and then tell me who you're more impressed with for the season.

I said All American honors are bragging rights because it's not like you actually get anything. No medals, no extra monetary reward, nothing. Post season All American is the same. It's an accomplishment, no doubt. But bragging rights is all you get, regular season and post season.

The top 8 on each apparatus and the AA should get an award for the regular season. Don't they at least get a trophy like they did at nationals on Thursday?

That's why they have two versions of the All Americans.

Regular season and Championships.

Both regular season and Championships get trophies.

Here is Nikki Smith with one of her two AA awards.
