It looks like my dreams of going to the Olympics are dashed. $1,650 for each Quslifications ticket in the least desirable seating.

I’ll set my sights on trials. At $1000 for the whole event it was a better deal to go to. I imagine the prices will be more ridiculous in 2028 though.

St. Louis had only around 20,000 in attendance and I think the number of 70,000 for Minneapolis is exaggerated.

I signed up to be in the lottery to maybe get a ticket. Those prices blow (are they gymnastics or basketball? ) but with 2 years to save, i can make it work. I couldn't take the time off work to be a volunteer, much as i wish. But I hear the best bet is knowing some sponsors...

I just signed up for the lottery and was trying to figure out the ticket prices...and ouch, not interested in paying that much! I think there is a sign-up next summer for non-local volunteers? I might try and volunteer.

It might be different for LA, but the issue with Olympic volunteering for past games is that they usually require volunteers to be available from around 1 week prior to the games, until 1 week after. So 5 weeks. Unless you’re in the LA area, or have someone there you can stay with for month, volunteering just isn’t feasible. But different games offer different things, when I volunteered for London we got free train travel all across London and the south of England which made it feasible for a lot more people to volunteer. In Sochi there was volunteer accommodation offered in student dorms but I met only a few who took up that offer and they were students anyway.

Understandable. I only looked into it a little bit to see how/when you can apply.

I don't have official work in July, which makes that part doable (unless I change jobs). And I do have a lot of family/friends in S. CA (I live in CA, but not at all close to LA). So I might be able to work it out...but I'll have to wait for more info.
