Allow me to take the opportunity to declare myself a fully paid up member of Team Navas World Vault Medal.

Given the Chinese and Nemour on bars, the Italians and the Chinese on beam, and obvious floor contenders Hang, Romanians, Italians, vault is the most wide open event for non traditional contries.

Why is everyone discounting Navas and Fontaine? They have the two best 2 vault scores in the world this year.

They are competitive but I feel Navas was very overscored at the Pan Ams EF on her Maroney-Izbasa:

entry - .1 angle, .1 leg sep
flight - .1 pike, .1 leg sep, .1 feet, .3 knees, .1 amplitude
landing - .1 feet apart, .1 step, .1 deviation from straight line, .1 balance

That's .4 lower than the panel gave, I'd like to see a video of the 14.6 she was given in team event.

Izzy Stassi was the only one to do 2 vaults at American Classic. 4.6/4.0


Potentially Wong and Roberson if Wong and Roberson can get their Chengs back and have a DTY.

Wong and Roberson would do well for themselves to be focusing on vault right now!

Wong probably only needs her Lopez and a clean DTY to beat Roberson. If she shows up with a DTY and a decent Cheng, there's no questions as to who is the superior vaulter.

Jordan Chiles could roll up with a DTY and Lopez and she'd be hands down the best US vaulter. Wonder if she realizes that.

I'll be interested to see how Roberson looks as her easier NCAA vaults have not been so impressive and looked a bit flat (seemed a bit stuck in the 9.75-9.85 range) and I think vt was her lowest personal best score in 2025.

Yeah, the judges just weren't buying her vault. Which is kinda fascinating, because NCAA judges will forgive a lot on vault. A 10.0 SV vault from a world championship team member and Olympic alternate on a top 20 team, and you only hit 9.9 once?

Wong's Lopez usually gets downgraded, she probably needs the Cheng to be a vault contender.

Wong (DTY, Pod) actually beat Roberson (DTY, Cheng) at US Classic last year.

At nationals Day one, they tied (Wong DTY & Pod, Roberson DTY & Cheng). Wong (DTY, Lopez) beat Roberson (DTY, Cheng) on day 2.

Not saying Wong will win any world medals with a DTY and Lopez (let alone a pod), but she sure as heck doesn't need a Cheng to beat Roberson based on last year and what I've seen from Roberson's instagram this summer.

Wong was 7th in the World with a DTY and a Pod in 2023. Granted she got lucky to make it into the finals, but still.

I’m late to the party, but I’ve really warmed up to Roberson as a gymnast. Watching her compete in person a few times I was impressed by her power and showmanship.
it’s evident that her teammates love her too. She seemed like a ray of sunshine, and that was fun to watch. I wish her the best!
