Me too, what's the point at which someone decides it's a problem that needs to be formally pursued? Pasta is so cheap! How egregiously big were their portions?

NCAA regulations are so insane. There's a reason why universities have to employ a small army of compliance officers.

Back when Mr. Birdie and I were dating, he played D3 baseball. My dad made a small donation to the team, which in the eyes of the NCAA made my dad a booster. The coach wasn't thrilled to find me, Mr. Birdie, and my parents out to dinner one night (small town, there's one nice restaurant). "He bought you dinner? That's an NCAA violation, do you know how much trouble you could get us into?!" Which is absolutely absurd. We had been dating for 3 years at this point, we lived together. No one, I mean no one, gives a shit is some guy playing for one of the worst D3 schools in the entire country gets his dinner paid for by his girlfriend's dad.

But technically it was an NCAA violation.

I wonder if those numbers include Sonoma State, which is eliminating its whole athletic program due to the school's financial issues (but they are division 2 - is this only division 1 numbers?)

Schools seeking antitrust and other protections from Congress may promist to fund Olympic sports in return.

This is something I did not know - the US government is forbidden by law from funding Olympic Teams. Some of these Olympic sports (swimming) ONLY have the NCAA for the pipeline.
