The situation with Dulcy Caylor and the Japanese selection process got me thinking about different team selection process and what changes could lead to the strongest team based on placement.
For this years worlds I wonder how an all placement selection process would have been received. For example they take the top finisher in each event and if there are repeats they go off AA. Ashlee Sullivan ends up on the team and you keep Caylor as Roberson double 1st’s.
I looked at 2012 and 2016 and you end up with the same team selected. I wonder how a process like this might influence the way gymnasts approach selection.
I was watching Russian Championships and the neon lights reminded me of a meet I attended in the late 80’s but can’t remember what. I remember Soviet gymnasts there and believe it was in Germany, does anyone remember?
