I probably would have made some money on that bet just because I have more faith in Oklahoma’s training staff than Florida’s. Even with that I’m still surprised Ragan’s ankles made it through five years with her doing floor almost the entire time.

Riley’s a beautiful gymnast, but she’s never beating the inconsistency allegations. She’s also never managed to find a bars dismount that works for her.

Morgan’s the one that baffles me. Her elbows were cooked, but I swear Florida had her doing bars exhibitions last year. Why? Given the fact that she couldn’t get through a watered down college beam set, I’m guessing Morgan was just mentally and physically done.

I wonder if she had never thrown that DLO. And had stuck to the Double Tuck.

She would certainly not have finished 4th. She would have at least been on the podium, ahead of Grace. Her weird and uncharacteristic falls at Camp would have been easier to ignore. She would have made the 2019 world team. She wouldn’t have lost all her confidence and momentum.

She was a gamer. She had a great hit record at Worlds. Maybe she could have won an individual medal.

The pandemic came at an awful time for her.

I do always wonder “what could have been?” with Morgan - if she hadn’t thrown that pass.
