It's interesting that they've gone with the highest scoring team on paper, and perhaps tells us something about how BG regard Euros.

If they were thinking of it more as a selection event for Paris, Amelie would've had an arguable case, even with it being a bit of a risk to put someone straight into continental competition 5 minutes after their comeback. Whereas if they want to do as well as possible at Euros and maximise their medal chances, this is the team to do it.

I hope Abigail Martin gets one of the world cups this month anyway. She's not down for either, but I understand the federation don't have to confirm who the athlete is until closer to the time. It would make sense to get her a bit more international experience so she's ready for Euros or the Olympics in case of an injury.

GBR going for team gold at Euros!

They should be in medal contention with France and Italy.

I don't see anyone else coming close. Maybe Netherlands for an outside chance at a team medal?

Abi Martin is at Osijek

I think Amelie will come back over when her College season is done. I don't think she was in the running for this. I think she has a strong chance of being a reserve for Paris. And with injury who knows.

Becky at least used to be good, and was worth the risk. GMF just isn’t good enough
Not on one piece she doesn't compare but over 4 pieces she is way more useful. Becky is basically useless outside of bars now. I used to really love her on beam too lovely form and style.

Top 3 are likely to be GB, France and Italy in whatever order yep. Potentially a very close one. It's likely to need errors to let anyone else in.

But yeah, this is a strong team on paper. On their best day, they could win the European team title again and medal on everything other than vault. It's easy to lose track of that when we've had all the early season splats played out so vividly.

In some ways that makes it worse not better.

As things stand now, if GMF is on a team she's going to be a multi eventer. While it's possible to design a lineup with her doing bars only, this isn't it. Not least because if BG want an inconsistent bars specialist who does nothing else, Becky currently has a similar hit ratio and can score more. So when GMF is picked, it's for 2-3 events. Which helps her case in some ways, but it also makes her the bigger risk of the two.

If Becky shits the bed, it's more contained. Whereas if GMF is having a bad day, as at worlds, it has the potential to be a multi-event mess. You're risking a higher percentage of the routines.

Saying that, we've never seen an either/or yet with Becky and GMF and we probably won't this year. Not with this depth.
