Ah yes I see.

Personally I love it when people from NI choose to be British or Irish depending on what's more convenient at any given time. But of course, there are ways to feel oneself a mixture of British and Irish and not buy into the honours system too- I don't think I'd want one in the extraordinarily unlikely event that it was offered.

That would lower the tone nicely. Maybe we should have an official threshold for proposing posters for gongs. Like if they've got into a certain number of days long, recrimination fuelled rows over the 1992 Olympics.
