CGN doesn't really factor in the elites really well. As they only take in level 10 scores.
It's biased against elites.

Claire Pease is the top recruit of this class, regardless of CGN's ratings.
IMO Lia Monica Fontaine is the 2nd best recruit.

Hezly Rivera was ranked 6th in 2026, compared to 1st Presely Duke.

Yes I agree, the elites get low-balled. I assume if you are an elite, you could pretty much go wherever you want.
Even amongst the L10s I was a little surprised to see her so high. She doesn’t to me have the polish of the typical top L10.

Also, I’d heard so much stuff about Lia-Monica but hadn’t watched any videos until recently. I was very underwhelmed

Well you are looking at her elite routines.
I can see that power on VT coming in handy. Her bars under NCAA code will score high.
She can scale back some difficulty on beam and floor.
She definitely is someone capable of producing 9.9-10.0 in NCAA.

Pease is still the 3rd ranked so they aren't far off with that one. And it's purely on her vault which is hard to judge given the crunch double she's doing won't be her college vault but they have to judge her off that at this stage.

Oh I don’t doubt that. But it’s one of those situations where I don’t get what everyone is excited about for her turning senior

I think we're excited because she's Canadian, and could be huge for Team Canada. And she's a strong all-arounder. She's not the next coming of Mustafina, but I'm excited to see what she can bring to the team*.

*if she stays healthy, and no I'm not still burned from Zoe Allaire-Bourgie's injury misfortunes, why do you ask?

LMF has a DTY and a Lopez which can make a World Final.
She's solid on bars and beam.
Her floor here at Pan Ams could medal at Worlds.
She is an option to use on any event and was fairly consistent.
It was interesting that Canada rested her on floor in team finals. Clearly it paid off here.

If you have E Black and LMF as the core of the team, it will be easier for Canada to fill in the holes from here to LA 28.
Given that this team was inexperienced athletes they performed very well.

Canada was 3rd in 2022, 12th in 2023, 5th in 2024. Most of those athletes are in NCAA and we are unsure of their status in elite, so building some depth is critical if they want to remain in the hunt for medals as a team.

This is just my personal opinion, i think that Elites should be listed and ranked separately. I also, after following ratings think that maybe their top 20 are ranked with validity, but the rest just seem a bit haphazardly. I have pulled up some rankings and then compared them to some that aren't ranked and was left wondering what they were thinking.

Time to start tracking where the Class of 2027 commits to! I'll do my best to keep this updated, but of course people switch commitments regularly, so do not take this as gospel.
