2026 Winter Olympics

The hockey was unreal. We were supposed to be travelling to London today, but we bumped into some people we knew and it turns out that the ROC still got a ticket allocation from the IOC, but has practically no delegates here (only those who are here in some capacity with their sports federation). So we can get comp tickets for anything…I think we’ll stay a few extra days!

Did you see one of the hockey games live @MaryClare? What else are you going to see? Comp tickets to whatever sounds like an incredible opportunity.

I can't deal with the intensity of hockey right now, especially on the women's side. The US-Canada rivalry is pretty heated (sorry) in normal times, and obviously we are not in normal times. I don't think I can handle it emotionally.

I'll catch the figure skating instead!

I realised my then other-half was not The One in the summer of 2012, when he refused to spend an entire day watching handball with me. It was one of the few things I'd managed to get tickets for and I wasn't going to let a complete lack of interest in or knowledge of the sport get in the way.

He happily came to the archery with me but I think that was because he wanted to walk on the pitch at Lord's.

Yesterday’s hockey was too much for my nerves. Absolutely insane. Would have loved to see Chechia advance.

Now onto a day of women’s hockey!!

I just realized this morning that because both Slovakia and Canada made hockey semis, at least one Washington Capital will come back to DC with an Olympic medal.

Oriol Cardona Coll won Spain's first Winter Olympics gold medal in 54 years, in the ski mountaineering sprint event.

Ski mountaineering is a good addition to the Olympics. It's nice to see sports that incorporate stair climbing.

Yeah, she interviewed with Andrea Joyce (who I still hate and I hate that NBC still gives her air time) and she said she lost focus which, yeah, seems about right from all I've seen of her skating. So much focus on the 3A, forgets about the rest of the program. She has ADHD so, yeah, tracks. That said, 8 points or so off the podium could be made up if she went balls to the wall in the FS--at least she gets the chance. Poor girl from Canada missed a jump too but didn't have the 3A cushion to get her through and just missed the FS cutoff.

Are ADHD meds not allowed? The skate isn’t that long.
