I want Canada to win the hockeys, obviously. But I'm okay with another country beating us. As long as it's not the US.

Are there ways to watch this if you don't have NBC or Peacock? (I'm in the USA) I'd love to have the British coverage but not sure if there is a way to do it. Any ideas?

As much as I love Jason Brown, it sounds like he didn't bring it when needed. Maybe alternate based on season results vs the other men, but sounds like others have a better claim to the spots.

What is the logic for giving Brown a berth on the Worlds team and making Naumov the alternate? The conversations behind the scenes in this sport must be even weirder than the ones in gymnastics...

Blatant favoritism/marketing, I suspect.

BBC regularly blocks the most commercially available VPNs.
Also, the BBC don’t have the main broadcast rights for the Olympics anymore. They are held by Discovery.

For the summer Olympics, the bbc showed a small number of live events but I don’t know if they plan to for the Winter Olympics as there isn’t much interest/medal chances from GB so it could just be a daily highlights show.

On the contrary, although the event selection may be even more parochial than usual:

"The rights deal we have with Discovery where we can only show two things live, we are subject to going forwards. We’ve traditionally found, because it’s been in place for two Winter Olympics now, that it’s less of an issue during the Winters because quite simply, there’s fewer sports. There were 32 sports in Paris, there will be 37 in LA, but there’s usually eight sports and 16 disciplines in the Winters.

“Given that the GB involvement in the Winters is a lot less, it means that the third or fourth or fifth best thing is usually something that doesn’t involve GB athletes; it may be ice hockey or Nordic skiing or non-GB curling, which there isn’t quite the same kind of demand for, or level of viewer complaint saying “we’re missing out on Great Britain in a hockey match, or Great Britain playing tennis or badminton in Paris,” let’s say.
