I wonder what Utah will do with Neff's mixed series on beam. I hope the Shushunova stays in the routine in some capacity.

Is that skill actually named after Shushunova? I don't see it as an eponymous skill on her wiki.

Its there on beam and floor.

Riley out of the beam lineup, and it's January. Hopefully they're playing around with lineups and being liberal with rest, but, meh. She and Hurd have been quite disappointing recruits. McCusker should be a lock for a 9.9+ on UB/BB every week, without question.

Hurd had all the surgeries, but it's still sad these two could never seem to collage together a couple elite skills to be a consistent force on even 2 events in NCAA.

I made this exact point last year it got me banned from Reddit

Physically, McCusker has fared well relative to other former MG Eliters. She's the first one I'm aware of to use all of her eligibility.

Her hit rate is the biggest issue, though I don't think we'll ever know to what degree it's mental and to what degree it's due to health-related training limitations.

I hold my breath every time Riley competes. I love watching her gymnastics so much, but I have this vision in my head of her just breaking into a million pieces like a house of cards collapsing. I want so badly for her to have a great season and retire on her own terms.

What is going on at Iowa State? A 191 week 1, 193 week 2, now a 192 week 3. Yikes!
I am wondering that too.
I wonder if AMG wasn't the best choice for head coach.
She ousted her entire coaching staff from last year (that she hired) and now she has a brand new staff (that she hired) so things aren't looking too hot.

Wild to see Georgia in 5th and Alabama in 3rd. What is this 2008??

SEC dominance. 8 of the top 11 teams are from the SEC.

Utah in 12th, Cal in 20th, Michigan State in 21st, Oregon State 26th, Illinois 41st, Kentucky in 39th, Arizona 44th are shockers in a bad way. Iowa State in 56th is no bueno.

Shockers in a good way: UGA 5th, Bama 3rd, UNC in 13th, Texas Women's in 27th, Pitt 30th, SJS 31st

We are definitely going to see some upsets by the end of the season with the new format for NQS. I wonder if some teams are feeling that pressure since essentially almost every meet counts.

I always thought that was such a weird hire. Zero coaching experience (at any level!), and they make her the head coach?
