She was Irina Alexeeva’s main coach for most of her club career.

It made me go look up her (Alexeeva)'s career. Reading she had 90 bone chips removed from her hip made me physical cringe away from the monitor.

My lasting memory of Aleexeva is WOGA having to buy a fax machine to communicate with the rodionenkos when she was added to the national team

I still can't believe she was actually that useful to the Russian team at that point... I was so surprised they'd use someone for such big teams who didn't train in the country.

IIRC, the pickings were fairly slim in 2018.

Something must be up with King and Koltakov.
Koltakov was the lead coach on vault, so if Megan Haught is brought in for vault, Koltakov isn't coming back.

Sounds like BYU or Nebraska snapped them both up.

Random Megan Dowlen story…

In the early 00s I used to set up a gymnastics chat room (yahoo I think) to see if anyone would join. None of the chats lasted too long and most were limited to a/s/l? and ignoring those that just wanted to have cybersex with you. One day a gymnast purporting to be from WOGA joined and it turned out to be Megan Dowlen. I knew about WOGA from an IG feature (this was before I’d seen much of Patterson) but Dowlen wasn’t mentioned so I didn’t know if she was having me on or not!

I wonder if it’s maybe a chain thing where they are waiting on seeing if successful for a HC job, but if not they’ll go to Auburn with Ryan?

I think anything is likely but it does appear they are no longer at Georgia since they are no longer listed as coaches- it would strange to remove them if they are staying.

Martinez is going to be a head coach at a gym in Arizona.. Heard Kratchwell was moving east

One day a gymnast purporting to be from WOGA joined and it turned out to be Megan Dowlen. I knew about WOGA from an IG feature (this was before I’d seen much of Patterson) but Dowlen wasn’t mentioned so I didn’t know if she was having me on or not!

You wouldn’t have heard of Patterson from the IG feature because she was at Brown’s Gymnastics when that article was published. She switched to WOGA in the fall of 2000, with her first competition being Top Gym, finishing second in the all around to Anna Pavlova.

Are there any openings in or near NJ? That's Kratchwell's home state. Fun fact: Her younger sister (not a gymnast) attended the college where I teach. I had her in a class about five years ago.

She was in Valeri's group. He never got any of his gymnasts from that initial group remotely close to their potential.
