I can't tell you how long it took me to figure out how to pronounce "eMjae." Someone should have stopped her parents from such ridiculousness.

eMjae is bad, but didn't trip me up as much as Margzetta.

I always assumed that Margzetta was a "real", albeit uncommon, name. It's kind of pretty. eMjae though, what a nightmare. I'd be at least changing the spelling if my parents saddled me with that one.

My eldest niece has her middle name as a combo of both grandmother's first names. Nora and Lynn. So Noralynn.

We had swimming lessons with a d'Artagnan. Varying degrees of unusual-historical seem to be popular in our area.

When I was coaching preschool classes in the late '00s a solid half the girls were Isabella or a variant thereof. Anything that could be nicknamed Izzy, Ellie, Addy, or Bella.

I'm a high school teacher. Two years ago I had a class with Abby, Addy, Maddy, Allie, Callie, Bella, Ella, and Ellie. Trying to match the right name to the right person was ... an experience.

How DO you pronounce it? I assumed M-J …. Is that wrong?

I work with kids and shudder at some of the names. I have an amazing collection of names

Yes, it is M-J. The "e" and the m-followed-by-j was tripping me up, and it my head I read it as "eeee-mage" for years.
