I wonder what happened during Kate McDonald’s bars. It’s unusual for Breanna Scott to outscored her on bars (even with the high execution score).

She made a very similar error on her Clear Hip Full that she did in finals:

- Only performed Clear Hip 1/2, then intermediate swing. Considered a fall because of the significant disruption to the routine.

- This also cost her 0.4 in D Score (-0.1 for counting a C vs. a D, -0.2 CV for the Maloney + Clear Hip Full connection, and -0.1 for the Clear Hip Full + Tkatchev connection)

- Large step backward / lunge on landing of dismount

She would receive 0.2 CV if the Clear Hip 1/2 was credited, but since we have dumb rules that say swing skills need to finish within 10 degrees of perfect handstand to be credited, it got downgraded to a B and she lost 0.5 total on the D score.

You are correct about the Clear Hip 1/2 being downgraded. However, even if McDonald had received C credit, the intermediate swing and fall afterward would have prevented CV from being awarded. I don't agree with the WTC rule here, especially if 1) the element preceding the intermediate swing/fall is performed successfully and 2) hitting the apparatus does not negate CV.
