Anybody seen a screenshot of the double layout landing yet? I also thought Melnikova got overscored on bars with some missed handstands. Congratulations to Wong on a great competition though. Wish she had a little more difficulty on her floor passes.
There's one on reddit but it's not good. I gather the coverage only showed this one angle?

Wow, that's some suspect final scoring. Melnikova having the highest e score on floor, knowing what she needed, is just blatant favoritism. That sucks so badly for Leanne. Russia USA China make for a very strangely traditional podium, despite an exciting meet.

Some peacock broadcast thoughts: Loved how many routines they showed. Thought the replays were garbage, they never replayed the problem aspects of routines, so I found myself having to repeatedly rewind to see what went wrong. The commentary was fine, maybe I'm just used to it now, but there was too much emphasis on the race for gold or a US gold that they lost the narrative on the podium spots or the top four. I needed them to show a scoring icon for the top contenders, bc kaylia missing out on a medal was just as compelling as the fight for gold. They lost the plot in the last rotation, of helping us understand how the top four might shake out.

I VPNed back to the fabulous French lady on Eurovision Sports.

She was well on top of the narrative and the scores, but she was devastated for Kaylia - lamenting every time she caught a glimpse of her on screen after beam.

Anyone see what happened to Zoya Szekely, was she injured and DNF? Will she compete in the bars final tomorrow, if not Sanne Veerman is R1 currently

Injured on VT and is withdrawing from UB EF.

ETA: is what I think I read but now I’m questioning my memory. Definitely was injured on VT though.

ETA2: No I read she was withdrawing from the rest of the AA. Don’t know about UB final. She hurt her knees. Sorry lol.

Totally random thought from YouTube videos popping up, but Melnikova is definitely posture goals in her dance. I may not like the win with a fall, but the carriage. Honestly I really enjoyed the dance of all of the top three. Love that Zhang Qingying had elements of tai chi in her choreography, too.

I really thing that Leanne could work on her choreo - there seemed to be a lot of arm waving in the corner.
