If Melnikova had just been quietly toiling away in the gym, patiently waiting to compete again, I would be ecstatic for her. The fact that she was running for political office in putin's party and dropped out of that race to do this makes me upset that she was cleared to compete and I can't be happy for her win.

A 0.1 separation for gold between hit sets from melnikova and Neymour would have been so much more satisfying..

Melnikova absolutely is the best all around gymnast here if she hit, and I prefer her gymnastics to Wong's, but that floor routine was scored on entirely different planet than every other routine in this meet.

The judges gave Melnikova a higher execution score on floor than Leanne Wong. Wtf.

I thought Melnikova was overscored on about every event.

I completely agree.

Melnikova has a quality of movement that no one in that final comes close to. I'm not defending her E scores because as a judge, I am excited to watch a Worlds final without having to worry about scoring. I can say that I enjoy watching her much more than almost everyone else.

Anybody seen a screenshot of the double layout landing yet? I also thought Melnikova got overscored on bars with some missed handstands. Congratulations to Wong on a great competition though. Wish she had a little more difficulty on her floor passes.
