I just can't get excited for World Cups on the WAG side. None of the top gymnasts attend.

I wish they had a North American stop--it would be easier for CAN, BRA, and even the US to send new seniors or gymnasts they are hoping to upgrade from B team to A team to get some additional seasoning. Mexico too could benefit from some of their new potential getting some extra competitions under their belts.

I didn't realize she was still going. She's 37 now. Cool!

Eddie Penev is now 34 and got two fifth-place ranks on Floor and Vault at this meet. I didn't realize he wanted to keep going. I wonder how he is funding this.

Yahor Sharamkou (of Belarus) won a gold and a bronze. I don't know about his situation, but I find myself wanting to be happy to see a gymnast from one of those countries cleared to compete on fair ground and then doing well.

I find this series an interesting curiosity, because it's the first one for eons that hasn't involved qualification for worlds or Olympics. A standalone world cup series is a rare thing.
