That is nuts. Surely they can appeal that is discriminatory against the coaches who are disabled and surely she has some old gymnastics injury that slowed her down. WTH is this- the 100 meter olympic final dash or an inquiry?
I literally don't understand why they would even have thought that Jay would go to them. Even if they hadn't won nationals this year they have been highly successful and he has top recruits lined up for years to come. He would have to be a fool to leave that to go back to the people who fired...
I mean should they have put some not ready ones out there? Maybe yes according to you then you could have proof they care 🙄 blowing out your knees on a vault that needs more time is stupid and props to the coaches for prioritizing safety.
I have been wondering the same thing. The AD said that money won't save the programs so if they do raise the money, where does it go if they remain a cut program?
I just want to say that in my experience when a gym self proclaims themselves as “not abusive” and publicly claims everywhere they are “different” they are probably abusive. They just hide it better and are trying to keep everyone from looking too hard.
They have done a similar thing before in Greensboro- held the GGI meet the same week as the NLC and (at that time) American Cup. It was also the last qualifier for the NLC. They held the level ten sessions on like Tuesday or Wednesday instead of Saturday.
Personally I think USAG should require girls to compete at least a full year of level ten with a minimum score of at least maybe a 37 before they can attempt to qualify junior elite.
I hear what you are saying but honestly the reality is that all vaults are inherently dangerous and frankly anything can happen in the blink of an eye. You could have competed a vault hundreds of times and then whammy- something goes wrong. I am all for having coaches up on podium and able to...
honestly there were a few things that kind of worried me for her health- the description of the intermittent swelling and other symptoms was, well, not great. It sounds like she has some level of kidney failure going on. Also the comment about how she is not really supposed to be doing...
I have a teen aged soon to be college gymnast and she is not at all inspired by her. She (and the majority of her teammates) actually don’t like her one bit. She is in fact kind of annoyed that one of the first responses she gets when people hear she will be doing college gym is “oh do you get...
It is sad to see her right now. I remember seeing her IRL in 21 and it was shocking to see how very very thin she was in person. It is much more obvious than on camera. I can’t imagine what she looks like in person now. I hope she is seeking help and just isn’t wanting to publicize it at the moment.
I find that the most interesting thing about the covid year stuff is watching to see which teams have planned well for the end of it. some schools are “holding” scholarships for 5th years, not recruiting for those spots, etc. It will be fascinating to see who has to scramble to fill the hole...
That is for her and her coaches and medical team to decide. MANY MANY girls compete with braces. There is nothing wrong with her wearing it. I also know that there is currently a gymnast at Georgia wearing a similar one. Is she not worthy to compete either?
I have wondered this season how she was managing everything with training and law school. She literally has to be superwoman. Congratulations to her on a wonderful career! She was a lovely and talented gymnast and by all accounts a wonderful person and teammate. I wish her all the best in the...
