Fascinating conversation. For some reason, this reminds me of the fact that some Romanian gymnasts (Marinescu) spoke up against abuse but the gymnasts she trained with didn’t. And she was originally from Bucharest.

I don’t think anyone knows how to win without being abusive. And no one wants to even give the impression of not being nice. Idk. I’ve been off the grid a bit…

Agreed it was bullshit, but she’s not the AA Champion. One could argue that Miller would have won if Galieva had competed instead of Gutsu, that Silivas would have won under new life, etc. What the history books show is the end result. Biles probably would have won but you dont get a gold medal...

Agreed but she’s not the AA champ. The history books won’t show Simone as champ X2. I think Suni is a lovely and worthy champ.

Loved Brandy. The damn beam…she repeated her second tumbling pass. Close to a 10.0 would’ve won it.

It’s too bad the AA didn’t work out for her. She’s def worthy of being a 2-time Olympic AA champ.

Interesting. What was Brandy’s placement in optionals? She certainly was still better than most, even with the fall.
