Parity isn't the same team winning NCAAs 75% of the time since 2014. It's not fun anymore. I thought things would be more interesting after Michigan won in 2021, but they haven't been.
So is there going to be no parity until KJ is gone because I think I'm done? It's sooooo boring. I think I hate Oklahoma gymnastics more than I hate Connecticut men's basketball, and that's saying a lot. I was so happy Michigan won this year.
I mean, I would still love a movie about the Mag 7 because it was the first time the women won, but it seems like it would be extraordinarily hard to get right.
For Paris, qualifications was per session with one exception, which is that the first two sessions were covered by one ticket. I ended up going to 1, 2, 4, and 5 because I was initially hoping USA would be in 4 or 5, but they ended up being in 2, so I had to play the resale game. I don't regret it.
That's absolutely insane. I guess they only want the Olympics to be for the elite. I was looking at the prices for men's basketball NCAAs (because Illinois made the Final Four) and it's more expensive per event than Paris was, at least with the resales anyways. Why is it that sports are so...
I don't know when they changed it. I think it may have even been before covid, but it used to be a random draw instead of by rankings. I think I remember Tara Lipinski skating pretty early during the technical program in 1998 and I know for a fact that the free program was a random draw within...
Nathan was three years younger in 2018 than Ilia is now. Competing at your second Olympics at 22 is different than at 25. Ilia would really have to defy the odds to win in 2030, given the last time a 25-year-old won was Scott Hamilton in 1984. The demands of the sport are so much greater now and...
Also, what has happened to US men's halfpipe snowboarding? Did the rest of the world simply catch up? I knew Australia was becoming competitive for a while, but it's Japan, too, now.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't have mattered because of the Spanish judge who had the US in third, iirc?
eta: Has anyone calculated what the results would be in the French judge was also removed from the short dance?
