Who's competed 4+ vault entries?

I tried to think of examples among the men, too. Of course, the 100% winner of this discussion is Deferr:

When he showed up in 2004 — and won gold again — with two completely different vaults than he had done in 2000, it was unbelievable to me. Still can't get over it.

And he amazes me that he never even made a world vault final yet won 2 Olympic gold medals on the event!

Surely theres been more men, what about the vault specialists. Did Scherbo ever do a front vault?

Allana Slater had 4 different entries:

Omelianchik: 98 CWG trials
Front tuck / pike / and a Cuervo (2000 Fox Sports Challenge)
Yurchenko 1.5: 2002 CWG
Luconi: 2002 CWG

Allana failed in vault in Sydney Olympics quals, but she successfully competed the Cuervo vaults in other comps.

@tempest It's such a weird thing. He competed vault at Worlds I think a couple times, but never with a good result. There's an interview in Spanish of him from the past couple years where he said something about focusing on floor in 2008, but you'd think he would show up to do two vaults then, too, right? I couldn't make out enough of the Spanish though.

@Matilda23 I didn't remember all that about Slater!

@RedBirdie I don't think your memory is that far off because I also could swear that I've seen her do a double twist (no salto) as well, but I can't find it either. (And 2001 worlds was definitely the roundoff half on + tucked front off)

Another vaulting queen!

Dare one say it, there's a qualitative difference between the 4 entry-ers who did a Lucconi type entry (is that the proper name?) and those who didn't. In the 01-04 quad anyway, I'm open to arguments about WAGs who did it when it wasn't the overvalued go-to of everyone with no power.

Sounds like Deferr is another example of an Olympic champion that was present at the next Games but didn’t try to defend their title. Whitlock in Tokyo (FX) was notable and I’ve often wondered how many athletes/gymnasts fall in to this category.

Very interesting thought. I don't think it's many. Very rare that they show up and don't attempt to defend!

I think just front and Tsuk.

I feel like I vaguely remember about 3-5 years ago, she trained something else, maybe a roundoff-half-on entry? But it never showed up in competition.

With all the vaults Chusovitina has worked through over the years, did she at least get 3 entry styles?
Sort of yes, since a front entry 1/4-on (Kas) or 1/2-on (Tsuk) are different vaults. She did a Tsuk on the old table and on the new table it's more of a Kas, but her technique is wonky. She does like 1/3 turn at the start, never pushing off the table squarely sideways or backward. Basically she isn't doing a complete 1/2-on entry because that's more difficult, but she wants to still see the table as she pushes off, because that's the muscle memory of how she did the vault for over a decade.

I thought Tsuk in the WAG code was a 1/4 or a ½?
