Last week, in possibly the world’s least surprising press release, it was announced that Alina Kabaeva has replaced Irina Viner as…whatever her title actually was. Supreme Ruler. So unless she’s going to do the whole thing over zoom, it would appear that she, Ivan and Vlad junior are back living in Russia full time.

Dina Averina has announced her engagement to ice dancer Dmitry Solovyev. She’ll be his third wife after figure skater Ekaterina Lobanova and curling european champion, Anna Sidorova.

I had lost track of how old Dina Averina is.

I wondered if she and her sister, Arina, had retired already (she did in 2024), but I didn't realize that she's already 26 now.

At some point, maybe we should do a retrospective...

I had to check Wikipedia, as I assumed this made her some kind of child bride. I can't cope with someone born in 1998 being 26 years old.

It's a bit like the terrifying fact that in just 77 days from now, more time will have passed between the release of Take On Me by A-Ha and the present day than between the release of Take On Me by A-Ha and the surrender of Nazi Germany at the end of the Second World War.
