He was released back to his owner and is home now which is good.

Poor doggo, hope he is feeling better soon.

I know we don't see it as much now that athletes can compete for longer, but there's probably always going to be a cohort who want to have finished with the sport at a certain point because they want to do something else with their life. It'll just be smaller maybe.
