WARM-UP ON THE FIELD OF PLAY
Following several comments and requests made by gymnasts during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the EC unanimously agreed that athletes taking part in the Apparatus finals in Artistic Gymnastics must have the opportunity to warm up on the apparatus on the field of play, as already allowed in the All-Around and Team competitions. The right to have a one-touch warm-up will come into force as soon as the amendment to the Technical Regulations is approved by the FIG Council.

Oops already posted in the general thread.

It really says a lot that this was a unanimous decision.

Does the FIC Council have to approve this at an FIG Council meeting? Looks like that’s not til May, so Worlds would still be dumb if this approval requires pomp and circumstance for some reason.

I thought lunges were definitely back starting in 2022.
I am not sure about that one, but I know for a fact they eliminated the corner rule about standing on two feet. Gymnasts don’t have to make a stork leg for four seconds while they take a breather.

Well, that’s disappointing. WTF? I don’t understand what they’re trying to prove. That determining whether a lunge is controlled or not is too difficult? Screw them. They’re lazy.

This happens literally every quad where this is proposed and never makes it into the final code.
