I read that announcement to mean the neutral Russian athletes won’t be competing in any FIG events?

So what was the point of going through the neutral process just for Russian Gymnastics to deny them?

I had head that Croatia had denied visas to the Russian gymnasts, which is absolutely their prerogative and something the FIG wouldn’t be able to do anything about.

That is not the case, at least not for every gymnast. Melnikova was in Italy recently, she clearly has a Schengen visa.

There are some countries within the Schengen area that absolutely refuse to issue visas to Russian nationals, but this is usually got around by applying to one of the counties who will.

IMO if the neutral athletes resisted performing in pro-war activities and took the effort it’s a shame they can’t compete.
