During Nationals, Gymcastic had a live show with Chae Campbell as one of their guests.

Chae defended Chris Waller and said it was not right that he got fired.

Margzetta came after Chae and Chae defended herself.

Now Margzetta is speaking out further.

Don’t like Margzetta, never have. Also don’t like Jessica, never have. But you can’t bait someone who isn’t either an idiot or a narcissist. Trust me.

You’re a “grown ass woman” Margzetta, take responsibility. Journalists, gymnastics ones or otherwise are there to investigate, probe and occasionally provoke. They aren’t there to be positive or supportive. Ask Ana Barbosu if you want to know what actual journalistic abuse and harassment looks like.

“it’s not like the proof isn’t there but posting proof isn’t going to do anything either”. I disagree, she should post what she has and set the record straight. I do not think Chris should have been fired but they needed scapegoat. The gymnasts involved were all adults at the time and committed acts that constituted bullying/hazing, they should have paid the price not Chris. Had UCLA executed diplomatic consequences Jeffries, Margz and one other who I will not name would have been kicked off the team. This would have conflicted with their black excellence campaign at the time but whatever. Jeffries got to transfer due to an investigation finding she was the victim and that muddied things significantly but with that being the case then what of the perpetrators?

It was a super complicated situation with probably a lot of nuance that we are not aware of, but Waller was an absolutely terrible coach that should have been fired before any of that went down.

UCLA looked embarrassingly bad the two years he was head coach. Nothing he was did was defensible. It’s not surprising at all that they immediately went back to being a top team after Janelle showed up, even though they are still pretending vault doesn’t matter.

I didnt follow closely at the time since I tend to avoid UCLA discourse. What exactly happened?

From the gymcastic side (and I take no pleasure defending Jessica), seeing people in other places be outraged over them asking Chae about Waller was silly. It's their job to ask those questions. It was the biggest story during her time at UCLA and is going to be of interest to anyone conducting an interview with her.

While I dislike clickbait, I also completely understand why they advertised this interview using a clip from this question since it creates discussion and interest for people who hadn't purchase the full interview. According to them, the clip was cleared with Chae beforehand so they didn't do anything wrong posting it.

Waller should have been professional and competent enough to stop the situation getting to where it did. Even if he was rubbish at being a head coach, he should have been able to do that. So regardless of who said or did what, Waller had to go. A competent professional would not have walked into the trap like he did, nor allowed the gymnasts to be in charge.

There was also a pre-interview as well so Chae was aware of what questions were going to be asked and she could either choose to answer or not. The UCLA question was one she said she felt comfortable discussing, so it was not a surprise question.

Honestly, Margz should not have said anything, instead making it about herself, it makes her look guilty of not being honest. Everyone has their own perspective on situations so it is valid that Chae has a different viewpoint of what happened. This whole reaction from Margz just makes her look bad IMO. You are a grown old, act like it.
