American Cup set to return in 2026! NOW Mixed Team competition

This will NEVER happen because FIG couldn't handle the qualification process for shit, but at this point, I'd rather they dump the men's and women's teams entirely...

...and add Trampoline, Double mini tramp, and Tumbling (all 12 men, 12 women, but if you qualify to one, you are allowed to compete in the other 2).

...And THEN have a team event where every apparatus / discipline is competed ONCE except Rhythmic, which would get 2 (e.g., ribbon, hoop)

That would be equal numbers for men and women and 14 scores to make up the team score.

US is selecting its team based off Winter Cup results. At least its transparent, in the past it was just gymnasts invited.

I wonder who will be interested in going who we haven't already seen doing Winter Cup every year. I'm assuming none of the NCAAers are going to have elite routines ready.

Since American Cup in March 7, that's still the height of NCAA season so I doubt we'll see any NCAAers.

Caylor, Hang, Sullivan? Maybe Moreau? Are Rivera and Pease healthy yet? Does Lavi Crain have a coach?

Sullivan's at UCLA. It'd be a nice option for the newer seniors, but I like that they're using an actual qualifying event. If Caylor can knock it out of the park again at Winter Cup, good for her for establishing some dominance. I'm not sure I want to see the easily-injured WOGA girls peaking this early in the season for something, but maybe they should go for and just get what competitions they can before they get hurt right before Worlds again.
