Not much to see here this weekend, seems like Bama/Kentucky, Ohio State/Michigan and Minn/Iowa potentially have the most intrigue. Of course it is always fun to watch the top teams to see any trend lines developing that might come to play at the end of the season.

Rudi really needs to be a C. I can only describe most of these 2-pass routines as code-wh*ring but I hate that term and wish I had a better way to express how frustrating it is that a rudi to a split jump and a 1.5 layout starts from the same 10 as a routine with an E pass and a double back dismount. Gilstrap does a flo-rudi and a flo-front 1/1…it’s a shame bc her choreo/extension is leagues better than the majority of the NCAA and the judges don’t reward things like that, but it feels a bit unfair to start from a 10 with so little risk or variety. If they made it a bit harder to start from a 10, that would help somewhat in separating routines.

Not a fan of the 2 pass routines, but the gymnasts and coaches are in favor of the FX CoP because it protects the athletes from all the pounding every weekend.

They did add in the bonus for ending with an E or double flipping element at least.
