Round 1 - 16 teams, each gymnast competes on one apparatus...
I have to assume the event at Euros this year is the format they are thinking of for 2028. It's weird that the IOC have included an event at the Olympics without it being contested at a World Championships (yet), but it'd be weirder if they'd done it without seeing a proposed format.
We'll see...
I wouldn't mind seeing some new faces at Euros. The "A" team seem to have been constantly on the go for the last few years. Alice and GMF were both on every team in the 2022-24 cycle. I don't think there's been a team without at least one of them since Rio 2016.
I feel like this is related to the E score bunching we see. A fully rotated turn or whatever doesn't get any E score benefit over one that's short. The downgrades effectively function as an execution deduction to make up for those the E panel aren't taking.
They need to fix both, D and E, but I...
Has anyone seen any non-broadcast footage of the time period in question?
And do we know where the inquiry had to be submitted relative to the US team's position in the video?
Probably. Bearing in mind the inquiry won't really have started the second it was filed and will have finished before the revised score is inputted, time to get the video to the right place, actually watch the video, some discussion between the superior jury* etc, I really doubt they had time to...
Yeah, but in that case we don't, officially at least, know what the scores would have been if the judging wasn't corrupt. The CAS ruling says Chiles scored less than Barbosu, so it would be weird for two people with different scores to share a medal, especially now Voinea is between them in the...
The judging is based on five areas, each worth 20% - Technique, Vocabulary, Originality, Execution and Musicality. There are no points, at the end of each round the judges just vote for who they think was best.
The rules seem very vague, I think deliberately so because it's supposed to be art...
Reading on Reddit that there was some argument over Lieke Wevers getting a 0.3 OOB in qualifying rather than a 0.1, which ultimately knocked her out of the AA final. I really want to see the photo for Voinea now.
