I had a kid do this at level 9 regionals! Got all wigged out, hit the board and jumped up on the table. First event, first vault and a 0. Thankfully we get 2 vaults and count the best one. I was thinking, dang, after all this work and stress, Nationals will be out the windows after 1 event...
I did enjoy that it was a close competition. When was the last time a silver medalist came from a group outside the top group? Leanne winning from the 2nd group would have been a neat development.
Anybody seen a screenshot of the double layout landing yet? I also thought Melnikova got overscored on bars with some missed handstands. Congratulations to Wong on a great competition though. Wish she had a little more difficulty on her floor passes.
Leanne Wong is an amazing gymnast and person, but she never gets better. Same old stuff and she doesn't hit clean enough for someone with her experience.
