The low fat diet trend in the 90s was just so unbelievably misguided and dangerous. The residual effects are still felt today. I remember I had a science teacher who had all these graphs on various foods and their fat contents on the wall of...
I think USAG made a major mistake having so much time in between nationals and team selection. Literally no one except for Caylor looks better, and Caylor at best will not make any EF and will probably rotate with the 2nd group in the AA.
Gymnastics is literally the only subjectively judged Olympic sport that does not release individual judge scores.
FIG’s incompetence is a daily talking point here, I’m not sure why all of the sudden this is a hill worth dying on.
Mustafina still did amazing things at that worlds! Some of my favorite routines of hers are from that competition.
It does suck that they overworked the rest of that team though. I’m still not over the fact that Afanasyeva had an Amanar for 15 minutes that summer.
This statement is depressing in light of the family forcing her to pray away a very serious injury.
I can’t believe how much abuse Shannon was surrounded by. How the fuck does Peggy come off as the only sane person around her?
She edged Maroney because of the time violation! USAG and AOGC were too incompetent to notice that her routine was over time.
After she debuted her DLO that year, it made almost no sense to me why they had her doing the 3.5 twist for so long, especially as it gave her body issues.
This is full on insane to me. USA Track and Field requires more than this just to be a developmental coach, which you can’t really do anything with. There are 3 levels after that, with an insane amount of work and live trainings for each level.
